We are looking for ambitious and committed trainee teachers who are passionate about their subject and have a desire to share their enthusiasm with young people. You must have experience of working with young people either in a voluntary or school setting; recent school experience is important as it demonstrates understanding of current issues in education today.
In conjunction with Leeds Trinity University & Leeds Beckett University, we have developed an exciting one year programme which will give you the opportunity to experience schools in a range of contexts, gaining a PGCE at the end of the year. We have a long association with delivering the highest quality training to new entrants to the profession, with our programme being held up as an outstanding provision.
You will have two placements in different schools, ensuring that you will gain experience in delivering across all Key Stages in partnership with our expert teachers. Whilst you are on placement, you will be treated as a full member of staff in all schools, but you will be supported by expert mentors and have access to excellent professional development.
Our schools, all located in Leeds, Wakefield or Selby currently are truly comprehensive and will provide you with the opportunity to work with young people of all abilities in all key stages. Although we will endeavour to accommodate any requests for particular schools, we cannot promise to meet your request.
You should be a graduate, preferably with a 2:1 or a 1st class degree, although we will consider applications from candidates who demonstrate a real talent for teaching and with a CV that demonstrates work with young people.
You must have a degree in which the majority of the content was in the chosen subject for the teaching placement.
We will provide you with a quality learning experience in exciting learning environments, with dedicated training opportunities. However, provision of a training place does not guarantee employment after the initial teaching qualification period. An offer of a training place is on condition that you pass the required literacy and numeracy tests.
How We Select
The lead school, The Rodillian Academy, will coordinate the recruitment process in partnership with Leeds Trinity University & Leeds Beckett University. We will provide a range of selection activities such as pupil panels, small group work, and a formal interview. This is designed to bring out the potential in candidates, so that we can best match applicants to places.
