The first school to join The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, The Featherstone Academy is a small but lively community school, with an inclusive culture. Since joining the Trust, The Featherstone Academy has grown from strength to strength moving from Special Measures to an Ofsted rating of Good in 2017.
Ofsted’s 2017 review – the second since the school joined the trust – rated The Featherstone Academy as Outstanding for personal development, behaviour and welfare, and Good overall. This has marked a significant improvement since the school was rated inadequate in January 2014 (before the trust took over), and rated Requires Improvement in March 2015 – showing just how quickly The Featherstone Academy embraced the Rodillian ethos, transforming the school at all levels.
Featherstone Academy serves as a beacon of inspiration and aspiration in a small old mining community and looks to increase the life chances of the students that attend. Student progress has either been inline or above national average over the past few years and the Academy looks to build on this success as it enhances productive relationships with local stakeholders.
