The first school to join The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, The Featherstone Academy is a small but lively community school, with an inclusive culture. Since joining the Trust, The Featherstone Academy has been the most improved school in the Wakefield area two years in a row.
Ofsted’s 2017 review – the second since the school joined the trust – rated The Featherstone Academy as Outstanding for personal development, behaviour and welfare, and Good overall. This has marked a significant improvement since the school was rated inadequate in January 2014 (before the trust took over), and rated Requires Improvement in March 2015 – showing just how quickly The Featherstone Academy embraced the Rodillian ethos, transforming the school at all levels.
In 2016, 65% of the Academy’s students achieved five A*-C grades (including English and maths) at GCSE, with 71% achieving a grade C or above in English and maths – well above the national average. Exam results have improved by 19% since 2015, with 2016’s results being the best the school has ever seen. The Featherstone Academy’s progress score is above the national average.
