Director of SEND

Sayward was appointed as Director of SEND in January 2015, to provide school-to-school support with the leadership and strategic development of SEND across the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, as a key element of our school improvement offer. Sayward has extensive experience of SEND, particularly behaviour support and SEMH, having worked previously as Deputy Head of Centre with SENCO responsibilities at Southway, the Trust’s alternative provision. Prior to joining the RMAT in 2013, Sayward worked as Curriculum Lead and was a Management Committee Member at an inner city London PRU.

Our SEND school improvement and support offer includes:

  • Development of trust wide SEND approaches and procedures
  • SENCO and SEND staff coaching & mentoring
  • SEND learner case input and advice
  • Early assessment & identification of SEND
  • Supporting effective T&L strategy sharing and inclusive Quality First Teaching (QTF)
  • SEND provision development including the introduction of highly personalised, targeted intervention
  • Monitoring and evaluation of SEND attendance, behaviour and progress data
  • Evidencing impact & outcomes of SEND support
  • Middle Leader responsibility for SEND
  • SEND Whole School Audit
