I joined the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust in June 2014 as an NQT from Rastrick High School, where I had spent nine months completing my ITT year. From my first day of employment, I was blown away by the way in which the MAT helps support staff both inside and outside of the classroom.
Senior leaders are always available to give advice and, as an NQT, I learned so much from those above me. The RMAT behaviour policy allows teachers to focus on the students and making progress without the worry of behaviour getting in the way.
Outside of the classroom, the support from senior leadership and the trust as a whole is outstanding. Through the support of the Trust, I was promoted to Head of Department in December 2016, less than two years after qualifying as a teacher. The Trust philosophy is very much “if you are good enough, then you are old enough”.
As a middle leader, I have been supported throughout my development by some outstanding leaders, and have constantly been challenged to become better. With the support of the RMAT aspiring leaders programme, and the always-available support within school, I am now working towards the next stage of my development.
I often think about how things might have been different had I not joined the RMAT, and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t have had the same opportunities and same experiences anywhere else. Once you have worked in the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, you can’t see yourself working anywhere else.
